Virginia Falls Day Trip
Virginia Falls Day Trip
Did you know that northern Canada has a waterfall that makes Niagara Falls look like a trickle? Join us for a day of sightseeing on our guided tour to Nahanni National Park and Virginia Falls. Your seasoned bushpilot provides state of the art transportation with our floatplanes from the northern most reaches of the Rocky Mountains. In just over 1 hour you’ll smoothly land on the South Nahanni River, about 1 kilometer upstream from the cascading falls!
Our northbound flight follows the famous Alaska Highway over BC’s remote Northern Rocky Mountains before crossing the mighty Liard River. Witness the vastness of the southeastern Yukon and the rugged Mackenzie Mountains as we enter Canada’s Northwest Territories. We follow the Caribou Range, cross the Flat River near Albert Faille’s trap line cabin before reaching the South Nahanni River and Virginia Falls. Touring in our clean, modern floatplanes allows you unprecedented views of the wild countryside below.
We enjoy a leisurely stroll (30 min.) along the well maintained National Park boardwalk to the upper viewpoint. Enjoy spectacular views and hear the thundering roar of Canada's tallest waterfall. Follow the trail through the northern boreal forest to the “Sluice Box Rapids” above the falls, and the upper viewpoint on the edge of the chasm. Frequently a Parks Canada interpreter is on hand to provide information on the Nahanni, the native history, early explorers, and plant life.
The roaring cataract is an unbeatable backdrop as you enjoy a picnic lunch (provided by us) while sitting on one of the park benches savouring the sights of Virginia Falls. The ambitious can continue from here down the steep portage trail. At the bottom your reward is a stunning view of the falls from river level. Raincoats recommended - the mist is there for you to feel!

Young and old, don’t miss out on some of the truest fun the remote Northern Rocky Mountains have to offer!
The season and conditions always vary, but our all-day guided fly-in fishing trips usually go something like this:
Depart the seaplane base at Muncho Lake in one of our state of the art machines. Soar high above the northern most reaches of the Rocky Mountains to some of the remotest, most plentiful lakes on the planet!
Head out onto the lake in our motorboats or wade the streams and find the fish! Your guide will give you tips and tricks, and suggest lures and spots. Both spin casting and fly fishers will find their bliss and depending on the season your guide will select the most productive lake for maximum fun! We love to prepare your catch for shore lunch; our guests never go hungry! Once you have enough fish caught for all to dine, the guide will prepare your meal on the open fire. It doesn’t get fresher, more natural, or ethical than that! In the afternoon you’ll continue to fish - catch and release.
Take in stunning vistas as your backdrop, and round off your awesome day with the spectacular flight back to Muncho Lake, where a cold beer and three course supper awaits you in the Bushpilot’s Lounge!

Soak a line to try for a fish, build a campfire, listen to the loons, canoe a lap, and experience the ultimate wilderness peace and tranquility only true nature can deliver.
With the lake to yourself and the light fading, you’ll feel cozy by the fire and warm in the cabin. The early morning dew and the crisp, fresh mountain air makes for an ideal setting for a morning coffee.
